Founded in 1839 as the "Bloomsburg Literary Institute," Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is a four-year co-educational public university that also includes graduate degree programs. Programs of study range from the arts and humanities to the sciences, education, health care and business.

About 90 percent of Bloomsburg's students come from throughout Pennsylvania, creating a diverse mix of cultures and ideas. It's a place where friendships that last a lifetime begin. And it's a busy place -with more than 160 student organizations and activities, NCAA Division II athletic programs, and a popular recreation center.

383 Full-time faculty, with 70 percent holding doctoral degrees. All classes are taught by faculty; there are no teaching assistants.
Bloomsburg is among the most technologically advanced universities in the United States, and the campus is almost completely networked. Software is current, and network uptime is over 99 percent. In addition to four different computer-related academic programs, there are 14 strategically located computer labs for students to use, and five more in the dormitories. There are more than 200 computers for student use in the library alone. All students have e-mail accounts, unlimited internet access, and can create their own web pages.
