The Campuses
Montgomery College (MC) has three conveniently located campuses, as well as off-campus sites and a Workforce Development & Continuing Education (WD & CE) division, all in Montgomery County.
Opened in 1965 with an enrollment of 2,489, the Rockville Campus is now Montgomery College's largest, with an enrollment of 14,000 full- and part-time students. It is located just north of Washington, D.C., between Route 355 and Interstate 270, and is readily accessible by bus and the Metro rail system. More than 600 courses are now offered in more than 40 curricula. People of all ages take classes at Rockville, and there is a diverse mix of cultures which contribute to the international flavor of this suburban campus. Thousands of Continuing Education students also attend classes at Rockville, and additional tens of thousands of people come to this campus each year for art exhibitions, athletic events, concerts, conferences, lectures, movies, plays, and other events open to the public.
The Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus is located in a dynamic urban neighborhood near the southern border of Montgomery County. We celebrate and embrace the diversity in our community and we respond to local, regional and national needs by offering a comprehensive educational experience with signature programs in the Health Sciences and the Visual and Performing Arts. Our enrollment has grown by 28% over the last five years and during the 2006-07 academic year, nearly 6,000 students from over 170 countries are taking classes on our campus.
Our dedicated faculty and staff create an atmosphere where students learn inside and outside the classroom. We offer a wide variety of high quality programs and services designed to meet the educational, professional and social needs of our students and the community.
Currently, the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus is in the midst of an amazing transformation in our physical plant. In the past two years, we have opened a new Health Sciences Building and a new Student Services Center. In 2007, our visual arts students, faculty and staff will move into the Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Art Center and we will break ground on the Cultural Arts Center which will house a 500 seat theater and a dance studio. These two facilities will help enhance Silver Spring's growing reputation as the premier arts and entertainment district in southern Montgomery County.
The Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus is experiencing a wonderful renaissance and we invite you to take full advantage of our top-notch academic and cultural offerings. Thanks for stopping by our web site.
The Germantown Campus is a sprawling, scenic campus located just 30 miles north of Washington, D.C., between Route 355 and Interstate 270. The newest Montgomery College campus, it opened on this site in 1978.. Our faculty and staff work closely with businesses in the I-270 high-tech corridor, supported by the resources in our newest campus building, the High Technology and Science Center. One exciting such project is the birth of a Biotechnology Park centered on the campus.. Together, we tailor curricula and courses to prepare our students to work in this dynamic environment. The Germantown Campus has made a special commitment to community use of its facilities, including the library, physical education facilities, and other spaces available for club, association, or civic activities.
The Workforce Development & Continuing Education division offers a wide range of credit and non-credit educational offerings. WD & CE offers more than 1,500 courses, including high-quality non-credit courses in more than 20 program areas, and selected credit courses offered through a variety of off-campus locations, telecourses, two-way interactive locations, and online courses.
