The Associate Director of Residential Dining is responsible for assisting the Residential Dining team in the planning and management of all service, production, personnel and financial aspects of the Dining Services Board Program. While working in collaboration with the Director of Residential Dining, this position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Residential Colleges; the Center for Jewish Life and program related issues at the Graduate College.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the Director of Residential Dining, the Associate Director of Residential Dining will design and direct operations related to the Board Dining program including the dining menus and meal plans
  • Works together with the residential College Masters, Administrators for all theme dinners and special events
  • Reviews all aspects of special events and catering within the Residential Colleges
  • Collaborates with the Director of Residential Dining to oversee the Athletic Dining program in the Residential Colleges
  • Collaborates with the Director of Residential Dining to oversee the summer dining program while partnering with Conference Services
  • Monitors annual and monthly budgets for all operations
  • Working collaboratively with the Director of Residential dining to oversee all hiring and scheduling for the Residential Dining operations
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with team members and the union leadership to ensure effective delivery of services to the campus community
  • Develops training programs for the Residential Dining team during break periods
  • Working collaboratively with the Director of Residential Dining to oversee the employee recognition programs
  • Working collaboratively with the Director of Residential Dining to oversee the development and performance management for all team members in Residential Dining
  • Encourages input from customers and respond to inquiries and suggestions
  • Working collaboratively with the Director of Residential Dining to maintain standards of sanitation and safety in compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Maintains the proper billing, payroll, cash handling, and accounting procedures
  • Supervises Chef Managers in absence of the Director of Residential Dining
Essential Qualifications:
  • Ten to twelve years in Food Service with Collegiate Dining experience in an all you care to eat environment
  • Working knowledge of automated food production and catering systems
  • Working knowledge of New Jersey State Health Department rules and regulations or Serve Safe
  • Experience managing staff
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft platforms including the ability to learn new applications
  • Working knowledge of Local, State and Federal Nutritional guidelines
  • Ability to manage resources effectively
  • Reliability and willingness to take initiative
  • Must be flexible to work a schedule that may include nights and weekends
The final candidate must successfully complete a background check.

Education Required: High School or Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience managing staff in a union environment
  • Ability to lift and control 50 pounds
  • Stand or walk up to 2 hours at one time for a total of 6-8 hours per day
  • Drive for no more than 30 minutes at one time;
  • Work under a range of temperature conditions (e.g., kitchens, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, etc);
  • Possess physical agility, full range of motion, and ability to maintain balance
