What is the concept behind the HigherEdJobs Author in Residence?
The Author in Residence marries a couple of old concepts with a new technology. It mixes a good, old-fashioned book club with the academic staple of a scholar in residence, while using the cutting-edge technology of a blog with regular blog postings and comments.
-
How will this work?
An author will establish a syllabus of his or her book into discussion topics. Each month, the author will make a blog post about one of the topics. The purpose of the blog post is to make you think and offer your thoughts about how the discussion topic applies to you and makes you think about your career in higher education.
-
How is the author and book selected?
The author, book, syllabus, and blog posts are designed to make you think about your career in higher education. HigherEdJobs has designed the program with the thought that by participating with our Author in Residence, you will be better able to find your perfect career fit in higher education.
-
How can I purchase the book?
You will be able to purchase the book on the blog via Amazon.com.
-
Will I need to read the book in order to participate?
It is not required that you read the book to participate with the Author in Residence. However, every blog post will be focused on a part of the author's book, so an understanding of the book may make your participation more valuable.
-
How will I be able to participate in the Author in Residence program?
One of the most important aspects of a book club is to be able to see the book you are reading through a number of different eyes and perspectives. The ability to comment on a blog will naturally lend itself to serve this purpose. We are excited to see the various perspectives that will be shared. In respect to the HigherEdJobs community, we would ask that all comments be related to the topic, and that no commercial messages be posted.
