POSITION: Dean of Student Affairs

STARTING DATE: July, 2014

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Minimum of a Master's Degree in Counseling, Education, Student Personnel Administration, or equivalent. (2) A minimum of ten years documented college work experience in Student Affairs which includes five years experience at an administrative level. (3) A proven record of successful strategies in: Enrollment Management, Retention, Student Life. (4) Leadership of innovation, student success, and diversity initiatives. (5) Ability to organize, coordinate, supervise, lead and evaluate a multifaceted, multi-campus, major functional unit of a comprehensive community college. (6) Ability to effectively use computers, multitask, meet schedules, accommodate change and participate as a key member of college administrative and executive committees and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with international student recruitment.

DUTIES: The Dean of Student Affairs is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the Student Affairs Division of the College.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education as determined on Salary Schedule B of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education salary schedules.

The submission of all required application materials (an application packet) to the Human Resource Office by the application deadline is the responsibility of the applicant.

The deadline for submitting all application materials is May 6, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
Incomplete or late application packets will eliminate the possibility of an interview.

A completed application packet consists of:
  • A letter of application explaining how the applicant meets each of the required and if applicable the preferred qualifications.
  • A current résumé.
  • A completed official College employment application.
  • Two professional letters of reference describing the applicant's skills, abilities, and work experience relevant to this position.
  • Copies of all relevant postsecondary transcripts. Transcript copies must show the identification of the institution, the identification of the applicant, and verify that the applicant has received the minimum degree requirements as stated in the "Required Qualifications" section. The person chosen to fill the position is required to furnish official transcripts of all postsecondary education prior to the completion of the first semester of employment.
As a condition of the employment offer, the applicant chosen to fill the position will be required to submit letters of verification from previous or current employers verifying the work experience stated in the "Required Qualifications" section. The letters of verification must include the applicant's beginning and ending dates of employment, employment title, and indicate if the employment was full or part time.
