The Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences (MSASS), the graduate school of social work at Case
Western Reserve University, has a long tradition of excellence in teaching, research and service in
direct practice with individuals, families and groups. The school's Master's curriculum offers two
concentrations: Direct Practice and Community & Social Development. Specializations in Direct
Practice include aging; alcohol and other drug abuse; children, youth and families; mental health;
and health. The MSASS Master's curriculum emphasizes skill-building, appreciation for diversity and
evidence-based practice. The school integrates its education, research and service to enable our
students to become leaders in social welfare and human services. Case Western Reserve University is

-An earned doctorate in social work or related field.
-An earned master's degree in social work with emphasis in direct practice.
-A minimum of two years post-master's social work experience in direct practice social work.
-Demonstrated ability and interest in teaching master's student in foundation and direct practice courses.
-Demonstrated ability to develop and to conduct a program of research and scholarship.
