The School of Education and Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver announces an open rank tenure track faculty position beginning in fall 2010. The School is seeking a faculty member whose primary teaching responsibilities will be in the Research, Evaluation and Methods (REM) area. The faculty member filling this position will be responsible for teaching courses in master's degree programs and the Doctorate of Education (EdD) and Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) degree programs. The faculty member will become a vital member of the school's faculty (www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/SchoolOfEducation).

Located in the heart of downtown Denver, whose population is increasingly diverse (32% Latino, 11% African American), the SEHD, accredited by NCATE, has taken a leadership role in preparing professionals to work in diverse schools, agencies and related settings. The SEHD emphasizes diverse collaborative partnerships including PK-16 environments, local communities, businesses, government agencies, private foundations, and other universities and colleges.

Major Responsibilities:
*Provide intellectual leadership and a strong commitment to graduate and doctoral education.
*Conduct a vigorous research agenda that addresses significant problems or issues in research methodology and/or education.
*Teach graduate courses in areas such as evaluation, assessment, and research methods.
*Seek grant funding individually or in partnership with other faculty in the School of Education or in other schools such as the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and/or community partners.
*Participate in ongoing improvement of master's and doctoral programs.
*Contribute to school-wide efforts at ongoing faculty development in the area of research methods.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Earned doctorate in an area that includes significant preparation in educational research and evaluation methods (e.g. REM, Sociology, Anthropology, Education).
* Demonstrated success or demonstrated potential for success in research, grant writing, and scholarship as an individual and/or as a group member.
* Experience conducting and disseminating program evaluation research in educational-based contexts.
* An orientation to mixed methods research, but with a strong quantitative background. The selected candidate will train students in advanced quantitative methods (e.g., SEM, experimental design, use of propensity scores in establishing comparison groups, multilevel and longitudinal modeling, and Bayesian Networks), and/or in the areas of instrument development and psychometric methods (e.g., IRT, CTT, and scaling).
* A record of or demonstrated potential for successful university teaching.
* Demonstrated competencies with cross-program collaboration and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Applied skills in program evaluation methods pertaining to work with diverse or urban K-16 or community-based educational systems.
* Demonstrated professional commitments and accomplishments consistent with the School's mission, "Leadership for learning and professional practice in diverse, urban communities."
* Previous experience teaching in K-16 education, especially in urban and diverse schools.
* Experience with culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse communities, knowledge of urban school issues, and an interest in collaborating with a variety of constituencies in an urban environment.
