Founded in 1919, AUC moved to a new
270-acre state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo in 2008. The University also operates in its historic

Description:
The Department of Political Science invites applications for a
tenure-track position in American Politics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level beginning
September 2011. The appointment will be made jointly with the Department of History. Preferred
fields of specialization are American Constitutional Law, Civil Rights and Liberties, American
Political Development, or American Political Culture. An ability to teach upper-level courses in
several of these areas as well as introductory American History and American Government would be an
asset. The Search Committee is eager to review applications of individuals with demonstrated
excellence in teaching, and an interest in living and working in the Middle East. The American
University in Cairo is committed to recruiting a diverse faculty to complement the diversity of its
student body.
Requirements:
PhD is required by
date of appointment. A potential for excellence in research is expected. In addition to teaching and
research, the successful candidate will also participate in departmental and University wide
service.
