Position Description
The University of Louisville (UofL) Libraries invites applications from creative, energetic, and knowledgeable candidates for the tenure track position of Business Reference & Teaching Librarian. The position reports to the head of the William F. Ekstrom Library Reference Department and would be part of a collegial, service-oriented, and progressive department of 8 librarians, 3 professional staff, and 8 student assistants.

The University Libraries are a member of the Association of Research Libraries and is an academic unit composed of a central library, a health sciences library, a music library, an art library, and a university archives. William F. Ekstrom Library, the central library, features three flexible instructional labs, an automated storage area, and a dynamic Learning Commons. These innovative facilities reflect the Libraries' strong commitment to student development and reinforce the University's concepts in teaching and learning.

Primary Responsibilities
-Deliver quality, in-depth reference assistance as part of the Reference Department
-Develop and oversee collections in assigned areas
-Promote and provide innovative approaches to information literacy instruction, including creative programming and outreach to faculty and students
-Create and maintain strong communication lines through proactive liaison work with the College of Business
-Maintain a robust record of research, publication, and professional service
-Help staff the reference desk, including nights and weekends
Required Qualifications
-ALA- accredited Masters degree
-Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using business resources
-Experience in the development and promotion of information literacy
-Knowledge of collection development issues, tools, and trends
-Undergraduate or graduate degree in a business related field
-Library experience
-Initiative, flexibility, and self-direction
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team within a culturally diverse user community
-Demonstrated potential to meet promotion and tenure requirements
Desirable Qualifications
-Graduate degree in a business related field
-Professional library experience
-Teaching experience in a classroom setting
-Evidence of creativity and innovation in providing library services
The appointment rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The annual salary is a minimum of $37,000 with a comprehensive benefits package and annual vacation of 22 working days. Library faculty appointments are twelve-month, tenure-track positions. Promotion and tenure require demonstration of scholarship and other criteria.
