Job Description:

Boston University is opening a New York City-based College Program on Advanced Internet Media Studies. This first of a kind program will provide the broadest overview of the professional use of the Internet to students of all disciplines.

The successful candidate will have a broad-based knowledge of Internet business models, technology and media. An MBA from an accredited institution, or by an accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education is required. Teaching experience is preferred.

Course Objectives/Description:

The course will focus on "how to" manage a profitable Internet business. Classes will provide a combination of instruction from industry experts and hands-on application of principles, with graded assignments each week. Classes are held three nights per week from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., commencing January 2011.

Course Syllabus will focus on:
Discovery (2 credits) How to manage a profitable Internet business. Classes include: Site Merchandising & Marketing; Internet Promotions/Couponing; COOP/MDF/Partnerships/Rev Shares & Swaps; Customer Service Technologies; Subscriptions/Membership/Loyalty; Ecommerce/Payment Platforms.

Building Blocks/Business Track (2 credits) Focuses on the basics of Internet infrastructure, how sites are architected for use on computers, touch screen tables, as well as mobile and smart phones and the methods of distribution (Wi-Fi, 3G, carriers, cloud). Classes include: Basics of Web and Mobile Infrastructure (build vs. buy choices); Web Infrastructure; Mobile Models and Infrastructure; Supply Chain, Drop Ship, Auction, Aggregator Models; Multi-Channel Worlds (decision making); Cloud vs. Local, Crowd Sourcing, Peer-to-Peer; The World of Devices.

Start-up/Business Track (2 credits) Focuses on how to write and create content that works in a variety of formats & distribution methods, as well as optimizing it for SEO, for usability, engagements and sparking UGC. Classes include: Business Plans and Fund Raising Internet Tools; Creation/Innovation/Crowd Sourcing Tools; Globalization Reach/Views; Localization; Legal & Rights Protection; Team Building/Hiring/Recruiting.

Key Responsibilities:
-Duties include teaching a six (6) credit course per academic year at $10,000.
-Participating in core course academic support programs, certification programs, and professional associations, conferences, etc.
-Teach and update material from approved curriculum and develop daily lesson plans to include instructional aids.
-Participate in providing regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students concerning academics.
-Motivates students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
-Ongoing development of expertise in subject area(s) and recommends improvements in curriculum design.
-Evening hours required.

Required Skills:
-Minimum 5 years experience in a managerial leadership role at an Internet-media based business or department.
-Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills.
-Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material.
-Experience in organizing and writing reports and presentations of a technical nature.
-Proven educational or administrative experience in critical thinking, problem solving and judgment skills.
-Proven track record of project completions, multi-tasking, and the ability to work with multiple special guest lecturers.
-Past history of developing and maintaining constructive working relationships with others.
