The Graduate School of Nursing, Department of Health Systems, Risk and Contingency Management, invites applications for a full time (tenure-track) Associate Professor position.
The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs accredited Graduate School of Nursing offers program options in nurse anesthesia, nurse practitioner (family health) , and clinical nurse specialist (perioperative) leading to the MSN. The PhD program has a research-intensive focus within the areas of population health and outcomes, operational readiness, and clinical decision making. The Graduate School of Nursing is committed to promoting clinical excellence, and furthering research and scholarship in healthcare. Located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the school enjoys interdisciplinary relationships with medicine, public health and other health related professions.
Duties: The incumbent will primarily serve as doctoral faculty and also support MSN program options. Responsibilities include: developing and teaching nursing science and research courses, advising students in dissertation, thesis and scholarly project development, evaluating student progress in research courses and dissertation/thesis work, and for assisting faculty in writing research grants, evaluating data, and preparing research for publication.
Qualification Requirements: The incumbent must bring to this position an earned research related doctorate in nursing or a relevant field and must hold a current license and certification, as appropriate. Doctoral level teaching experience is required. The ideal candidate will have an established program of research with extramural funding. Those candidates with a background in the military and/or federal health care systems are preferred. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic guidelines. Additionally, the incumbent must be approved by the USUHS, GSN Committee on Appointment, Promotion and Tenure for an appointment as Associate Professor.
