The Graduate School of Nursing (GSN), Department of Health Systems, Injury, & Disease Management invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure, non-tenure track Assistant Professor position in our Family Nurse Practitioner Program. The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs accredited Graduate School of Nursing offers program options in nurse anesthesia, nurse practitioner (family health) , and clinical nurse specialist (perioperative) leading to the MSN. The PhD program has a research-intensive focus within the areas of population health and outcomes, operational readiness, and clinical decision making. The Graduate School of Nursing is committed to promoting clinical excellence, and furthering research and scholarship in healthcare. Located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the school enjoys interdisciplinary relationships with medicine, public health and other health related professions.

Duties: The incumbent will serve as an Assistant Professor and as such will be responsible for teaching, research, and administrative assignments. He/she will assist in the planning and development of the curriculum of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. The selected candidate will serve as an interface with the National Capital Simulator Center to maximize the use of alternatives in teaching/learning family nurse practitioner curriculum. Coordinates with the National Capital Simulator Center to provide reality-based interview experiences for students. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for advising students in dissertation/thesis development, evaluating student progress in research courses and dissertation/thesis work.

Qualifications: Qualified applicants must be professional nurses, holding an earned doctorate in nursing or a relevant field, and a current license and certification as a nurse practitioner. A Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree and recent graduate level teaching experience are desirable. Candidates with a background in the military and/or federal health care system and who are doctorally prepared in nursing or a relevant specialty area will receive favorable consideration. Candidates with expertise in Adult Health and Care-giving, Family Health, and Pediatrics, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic guidelines.

As an advanced practice registered nurse, faculty members within the clinical specialties are required to obtain credentials at one of several military or federal health care facilities and maintain a clinical practice.
