Description
The Director of Student Services provides support to the Director of Liberal Studies and supervises Student Workers, particularly in the areas of organizing the office and implementing current procedures to create a welcoming and loving environment that assists all students in their UG degree and other departments on-campus.

Examples of Duties
-Assists in collaboration with the Program Director of Liberal Studies while bringing leadership to the department, especially in matters of problem situations with graduation and academic advising; along with Staff and Student Assistant(s).
-Serves the faculty of the program including Full-time and Adjuncts.
-Supervises, leads, trains, schedules, and evaluates part-time Staff and any student assistants for the Liberal Studies office; as well as; coordinating the maintenance of the student assistant handbook.
-Serves Students with the Director of Liberal Studies by serving as an information center regarding the Liberal Studies Program.
-Assists prospective students with application process, transferable courses, and coordinates with faculty admissions panel (to be organized), with reviewing and interviewing prospective candidates into any Liberal Studies program, while managing up-to-date files on all Liberal Studies students from the time of admission through completion.
-Manages, organizes, and assists in academic advising Liberal Studies majors two times a year, as well as, responding to advising questions during the rest of the school year. This includes training for all Faculty/Staff in concentration areas and Liberal Studies Advisors under guidance of Program Director.
-Manages and Coordinates with Office of Service Learning and Research along with designated faculty, all Liberal Studies Student Placement including assigning TAP Faculty to students.
-Manages and assists in all Portfolio Assessments (TS Coordinator) and Exit Review Interview and Questionnaire Assessment(s) for all graduating students each semester.
-Manages the budget for the Liberal Studies program(s). Monitors monthly budget transactions and facilitates financial transactions, purchase orders, attends all budget meeting, and any Office Max orders.
-Manages course revisions and textbook requisitions with all liberal studies faculty each semester.
-Serves as a representative for the Education (K-8)/Liberal Studies program during Student Orientation weekend and pre-registration advising.
-Serves as a liaison in improving interaction, flow, and communication between the UG registrar, UG admissions, and other departments associated with Liberal Studies Program including problem issues pertaining to petitioning approvals and procedures.
-Updates UG Catalog with the Director of Liberal Studies, Associate Dean of CLAS, and Director of Academic Advising Office.
-Oversees and manages Liberal Studies organizations & activities, such as, student clubs, Pi Lambda Theta Charter/Honor Society (To be Organized), and Graduation Reception.
-Oversees the updates of all current liberal studies forms, as well as, creates appropriate forms to maintain efficiency within the office with approval from Director of Liberal Studies.
-Oversees management of data collection by partnering with other undergraduate departments for accreditation and state certification programs (TaskStream and WASC Accreditation)
-Coordinates with APU University Relations and UG Admission to develop marketing materials/website and identify target markets.

Education
BA/BS Degree. Master's degree preferred.

Experience
Five-eight years experience in a client-based, service-oriented environment with background/knowledge in multiple subject educational programs preferred. Some university setting preferred.

Skills
Strong word processing skills. Microsoft Word/Excel. 50wpm with high degree of accuracy. Strong clerical, telephone, oral, and written communication skills. Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently. Must be well organized and detail oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.

Mental Demands
Able to exercise independent judgment and discretion; problem-solving; ability to work under pressure with distractions. Able to keep information confidential. Ability to learn procedures and retain information. In agreement with the purpose and goals of Azusa Pacific University in providing a Christian-based higher education for its students.

Physical Demands
Intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. Requires repetitive wrist/finger motions on keyboard. Hearing and speaking abilities. Able to conduct business at other offices on campus. Ability to lift, pull, grasp, bend to lower file drawers and reach to top of 4-drawer file cabinet. Able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
