The Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland seeks a qualified candidate for a Director, Curriculum Development and Educational Research (Non-Tenure/Tenure-Track) Assistant Professor Position.
Duties: The incumbent will serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and as such is responsible for teaching, research and administrative assignments. The incumbent will coordinate with the Chief of Academic Surgery, Student Clerkship Director, Residency Program Directors, Director of Surgical Simulation and the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine on the development, implementation and improvement of clerkship and surgical residency curricula.
The individual will also be responsible for the development and implementation of CME courses, educational research activities and faculty development programs with respect to surgical education. The incumbent will submit educational grants to support Surgery and multidisciplinary training programs.
Qualifications Requirements: The incumbent must bring to this position a minimum of a M.D. or Ph.D. degree in education or psychology plus substantial experience in medical school teaching, educational administration, personnel management, research and development, expertise and experience as reflected by a significant number scientific publications in critically reviewed scientific journals as appropriate to his/her research. Experience in simulation and skills training, including team training is required. Experience with medical applications of electronic data processing, strong communication, data management skills and computer knowledge required. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic guidelines.
