This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Description: Full-time tenure track User Services librarian to coordinate the Circulation, Reserves, Interlibrary Loan and Outreach services areas.
Duties of Position: Directly manages one professional staff and indirectly manages thirteen classified staff plus student assistants; works to improve awareness of the Library's services and to enhance user's experiences through event coordination and outreach activities; provides reference service, library instruction, contributes to collection development, and represents the Harper College Library in local and regional library forums; demonstrated commitment to public service, strong leadership skills, an understanding of integrated library systems and new technologies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate: familiarity with library technologies as well as library resources in all formats; the ability to plan, implement and assess projects; work cooperatively with and provide service-oriented instruction to faculty and students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles; strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
Education Requirements: A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution.
Experience Requirements: At least one year of supervisory experience required. Supervisory experience in a library setting preferred. Seeking candidates who have had multicultural experience and can demonstrate a commitment to diversity and multiculturalism.
