Department Chair The Built Environment Department Indiana State University

The College of Technology at Indiana State University (ISU) invites candidates to apply for the position of Department Chair, The Built Environment Department. The chair reports to the Dean of the College of Technology and is responsible for the strategic leadership of the department in academic, administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions. The Department of The Built Environment was established in 2010 and is the home for three different programs, Construction Management, Safety Management, and Interior Architecture Design; with an enrollment of more than 250 undergraduate students and more than 30 master's students.

Strategic directions for the Department include continued growth in diversity, development of new programs, research and graduate education, engagement with industry, and community outreach and involvement.

ISU integrates teaching, research, and creative activity in an engaging, challenging, and supportive learning environment to prepare productive citizens for Indiana, the region, and the world.

Candidates shall be experienced and knowledgeable in how multiple areas of the built environment interact and be able to bring a fresh vision and a shared management style to the department. They should demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills as well as ethical, professional and collegial work relationships. Candidates are required to have an earned Doctorate or terminal degree in one of the Built Environment fields of study or a very closely related field, with an outstanding history of quality teaching and administrative accomplishments. Records of successful grantsmanship, and experience in industry are also highly preferred.

Required Education: Doctorate at the associate level in one of the Built Environment fields of study or related fields.
