Job Summary: The Studio Art Program at Denison University, a highly selective liberal arts college, invites applications
for a visiting assistant professor appointment beginning Fall 2012. This one year sabbatical leave replacement is a full time, non-renewable
position teaching ceramics and foundation courses. The successful candidate must be able to teach three courses per semester, including Hand
Building, the Wheel, Mold Making and a 2D-3D Foundation course and must be prepared to offer critical support to students pursuing work in a
range of 2D and 3D media. The successful candidate will be teaching in a liberal arts context and must have the ability to teach Ceramics as
an art form and as a creative and responsive means to address the material world, for both art and non-art students. The successful
candidate will be responsible for working with the technician and work-study students to insure the ceramics facilities and materials are
properly and safely maintained. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an MFA, some teaching experience at the college level and knowledge of safe studio practices and environmental concerns.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who provide evidence of teaching effectiveness with a strong commitment to teaching ceramics, an active exhibition record and a demonstrated knowledge of contemporary art and fine craft theory. To assure full consideration, completed applications must be received by February 27th, 2012. We will begin reviewing files on February 29th and will conduct interviews at NCECA in Seattle March 28-30th by appointment.
