ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Reading. Successful high school or post secondary teaching experience in developmental reading. PREFERRED Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Full-time successful teaching experience in high school or post secondary reading. Experience teaching nontraditional and diverse populations. Expertise in discipline-appropriate instructional methodologies. Ability to establish rapport with students and motivate student learning. Knowledge of current technology in instructional settings. Excellent communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with colleagues.
SALARY: $43,695.00 per nine (9) months, plus benefits.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, tenure track. Beginning on or about August 20, 2012.
SPECIAL WORKING HOURS: None.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: No.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaches five classes of developmental reading per fall and spring semesters. Develops curriculum and instructional materials. Works with students of varied backgrounds. Evaluates student performance and assigns grades. Participates in academic advising and registration. Engages in assessment of student learning. Reviews, evaluates, and modifies program curricula and practices. Serves on college committees and accepts special assignments related to the academic community. Participates in regular professional development. Maintains regular office hours. Performs other related duties as assigned.
LOCATION: Communications, Languages, and Reading - East Campus.
