This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Description: The Department of Rehabilitation Studies invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor as Department Chair. This 12-month, tenure-eligible position begins July 1, 2012. The candidate must have appropriate background and commitment to serve as a full-time faculty member in a department with a CORE-accredited rehabilitation counseling program, which is also pursuing CACREP accreditation in addiction, career counseling, and counselor education and supervision.
The Department Chair, in conjunction with faculty, will provide shared governance for the bachelor's program in rehabilitation services, the masters' programs in substance abuse & clinical counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and the doctoral program in rehabilitation counseling and administration.
The successful candidate will possess:
1. a doctorate in counseling from a CORE/CACREP accredited program;
2. appropriate licensure (e.g. LPC, LCAS) and certification (e.g. CRC, NCC);
3. a record of scholarship that shows a significant contribution to addiction, clinical counseling, and/or rehabilitation counseling;
4. administrative experience with accreditation by CORE and CACREP (preferred);
5. experience in teaching, research, and service commensurate with the qualifications of a tenured Associate/Full Professor at East Carolina University;
6. experience in and/or support of distance education;
7. administrative experience using a collaborative leadership style;
8. experience with budget development; and
9. explicit commitment and accomplishment in teaching, in order to contribute to the advancement of the Department's mission and goals.
Accountability for the programs operated within the Department; represent the Department in the leadership structure of the College, and link the Department to other schools and colleges within the University to build collaborative education and research efforts. Will also manage the Department budget, supervise the work of the faculty, conduct productivity reviews, and make recommendations for promotion and tenure. Will provide classroom instruction in Department programs, grow the Department as determined in yearly comprehensive strategic plans, and participate in meetings among College of Allied Health Sciences Chairs.

The Department of Rehabilitation Studies is housed in the ECU College of Allied Health Sciences within the Division of Health Sciences. The Department has state-of-the art counseling and vocational evaluation labs and teaching technology.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in counseling from a CORE/CACREP accredited program.
Appropriate licensure (e.g. LPC, LCAS) and certification (e.g. CRC, NCC).
