This position is no longer an active posting on HigherEdJobsJob Summary: Provides technology and user support services for campus telecommunication, network infrastructure and other IT systems. Maintains efficient operation of those systems, including installation and maintenance.
Note: This is a new position for Denison University, and the primary focus for the individual in this position will be on the implementation and administration of a VoIP environment. After the implementation period has passed, the individual will allocate additional time to other duties indicated in this posting.
Essential Job Functions: Serve in a lead capacity performing the campus migration from traditional PBX telephony to a VoIP system, and all day to day administration of those systems.
Perform regular backups for supported systems.
Maintain appropriate documentation detailing work completed, inventory, special configurations, and extension locations.
Support faculty/staff mobile telephony devices, such as smartphones.
In coordination with Network Engineer, maintain appropriate physical infrastructure and campus network in support of telecommunications environment.
Maintain voicemail, E911, and auto-attendant/IVR systems.
Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and outside agencies in regard to projects and maintenance.
Remain up to date with modern telephony, unified communications and technologies.
As necessary, serve as technology specialist for other systems and future projects within ITS department, as assigned.
The individual in this position may occasionally need to be available outside of normal work hours to assist in emergency events. As a result, it is expected that they are reachable, within reason, via mobile device.
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, computing, or other relevant technical field. Relevant work experience and associates degree may be accepted in lieu of degree.
A minimum of four years of experience in IT positions of increasing responsibility.
At least two years of experience administering technical IT systems which provide services to a midsize or larger enterprise environment.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical individuals.
Strong knowledge in the technical aspects of telecommunications and IP networking.
Must be able to walk the campus, stairs and hills and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience administering an analog/digital PBX and/or VoIP environment.
Experience with Fujitsu PBX and Mitel NuPoint UM 3.0.
Project planning and implementation experience.
Industry recognized certification in relation to job duties.
Experience with auto-attendant/IVR, call center, and voicemail configuration.
Familiarity with UC and cellular technologies.
Ability to perform duties and make decisions with minimum supervision.
