Duties & Responsibilities
As a member of the Product Development team at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS) and reporting to the Data Acquisition and Archival Manager, the research coordinator will work with the data acquisition, curation and outreach group as a liaison between journals and the data repository developed at IQSS (the Dataverse Network). This person will help identify the initial journals to participate in the project "Helping Journals to Upgrade Data Publication for Reusable Research," and then oversee and coordinate the process by which the publishing system will be integrated with the Dataverse Network. In addition, he/she will oversee and coordinate the deposit of data associated with journal articles. This position is part of a 2-year project funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. This is a term position ending May 31, 2014, with the possibility of renewal.
This position will require a Bachelor's Degree in Information Studies or an equivalent field of study. Experience with data curation and data management.
Master's degree preferred.
Basic knowledge of data curation practices in the library and archive fields, and familiarity with basic principles of public policies for data. Ability to distinguish between the many forms of data, how data vary by scholarly discipline, and how they are used throughout the scholarly life cycle. Excellent communication skills. Willing to be an individual contributor, carrying on the necessary research to complete a task, as well as working with a team of application developers and data management experts.
This is a 2-year term position with the possibility of renewal.
