Appointment to begin December 2012. This is a calendar year (twelve-month) professional appointment. This position is under the general supervision of the Assistance Vice President for Enrollment Management with responsibility for the Registrar's Office. The Registrar's Office has overall responsibility for initiating and maintaining the permanent academic record of each student and for the registration of all students. The Office works with the academic staff in coordinating the time schedule for classes including the assignment of classroom space; maintains accurate records of all college courses and curriculum requirements; has the responsibility for planning for and supervising all pre-registration and registration for classes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
- Oversees all administrative functions of the Registrar's Office by
supervising, providing ongoing professional development opportunities, and evaluating all full-time and part-time employees
- Develops
and monitors the Registrar's Office budget including personnel needs, departmental operating expenses
- Initiates and maintains all
student academic records including the collection of grades, reporting of grades, preparation of grade reports and transcripts, deficiency
reports, preparation of an honors list, probation status reports, class ranking, and maintenance of student records
- Maintains
accurate records of all college courses and curriculum requirements
- Compiles statistical data required for various State University
class size, faculty load and enrollment reports
- Utilizes and maintains the academic records of all students in the College's student
information system (Banner). Ensures that the system is used effectively and that processes and product enhancements are developed which are
technologically up-to-date and user/student friendly
- Contributes to student satisfaction through delivery of quality customer service
in all aspects of the administration of financial aid
- Ensures compliance with FERPA and serves as the FERPA Officer for the
College
- Other duties as assigned
- Master's
degree in student personnel, or related area, and a minimum of three years of increased administrative responsibilities as an Assistant or
Associate Registrar at a college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of
FERPA
- Experience with staff supervision and a record of the ability to commit to a team-building approach
- Ability to deal
effectively with a diverse student body
- Experience with data analysis
- Strong technical skills, including use of Microsoft
Excel and Access
- Ability to work under pressure to meet timelines and objectives
- Experience with Student Information Systems
(preferably, Banner)
- Experience with SUNY SIRIS Submissions (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
