POSITION
This is a funded, three-year renewable appointment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The general responsibilities of this position will include assisting the campus in monitoring/managing numerous small
to medium size campus construction projects. This position will be fully dedicated to defining the critical maintenance and capital needs of
the college by working with the campus community to effectively manage campus capital projects from inception to completion.
Observe progress and quality of work; monitor construction; review contract documents; maintain records; assist architect in reviewing shop drawings, applications for payment and final inspection of work.
Prioritize and define campus construction projects to be performed by the capital construction crew. Supervise the construction crew and assure all projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Provide on-site representation for campus on various construction projects as assigned; oversee contractor compliance with contract drawings and specifications, monitor contractor progress, handle contractor questions; screen contractor administrative work/payment requests on behalf of the campus; assist in the planning and design process for all projects; work with faculty, staff, and design professional in development of projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or construction management and four years experience in
construction inspection, OR, Associate's degree in engineering or construction technology and eight years experience in construction
inspection, OR, fifteen years experience in construction inspection. Technical knowledge of architectural, mechanical and electrical
building systems. Construction materials and methods and construction documentation; General computer literacy and working knowledge of MS
Word and e-mail programs; Organizational skills and ability to effectively communicate complex issues with a diverse population. The
individual will be the code compliance manager for the campus and must be willing to hold a NYS Code Enforcement Certificate through the
Department of State.
Preferred:
Experience in inspection and construction administration of college or university projects; Construction management
experience; Demonstration of a thorough understanding of project specifications, plan drawings and other construction documents including
submittals and shop drawings; Construction cost estimating; Knowledge of Building Codes of New York State.
