POSITION
This is a full-time, twelve-month Management/Confidential (M/C) appointment beginning July 1, 2013.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible to the College Provost, who is the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and for the administration of the
academic programs in the School of Business and Liberal Arts & Sciences, the Dean:
- Leads four academic departments within the School of Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Ensures maintenance of academic quality
- Develops budget and oversees allocation of funds
- Facilitates curriculum development and new program initiatives
- Fosters student success, first year experience, and retention initiatives
- Works in the recruitment and retention of students
- Assists in the maintenance of the honors program
- Works to enhance international programming
- Motivates and energizes colleagues
- Keeps an awareness of trends within the School's disciplines
- Engages in faculty and staff recruitment, selection, supervision and evaluation in coordination with Department Chairs, the Academic Vice President, and the Director of Human Resources
- Markets and promotes programs
- Cultivates donors and friends to the College
- Supervises the School of Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences office and personnel
- Oversees facilities maintenance and planning as it pertains to program implementation
~Terminal degree in one of the program areas within the school (doctoral degree in one of the program areas within the School preferred)
~At least three years of demonstrated administrative experience at level of department chair or higher (or equivalent private/public sector administrative expertise)
~Previously earned academic rank in one of the School's disciplines
~College level teaching experience
~Record of significant scholarship, creative activity, or professional leadership
~Dedication to the philosophy of a technical education and commitment to student success.
GENERAL
The Dean of Business and Liberal Arts and Sciences supervises 47 faculty, 44 adjunct faculty, and 5 staff. Curricula include
Associate and Bachelor degrees with the areas of:
- Business Administration, Financial Services, Accounting
- Information Technology, Computer Information Systems
- Applied Psychology, Early Childhood Studies, Child & Family Services
- Communications, Graphic Design
- Humanities, Social Sciences
- Histotechnology, Biotechnology, Science, Paramedics
Individual selected will be expected to live in the Cobleskill region.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This position offers full New York State benefits which are among the most comprehensive in the country. Minimum
salary level for this position is $99,000.
