The Department of Bioengineering at the College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Visiting Research Scientist. The Visiting Research Scientist will independently conduct research on interdisciplinary projects in Assistant Professor Princess Imoukhuede's research laboratory. Assistant Professor Imoukhuede's research laboratory employs quantitative molecular approaches to study tumor angiogenesis and vascular pathologies. The Visiting Research Scientist will report directly to Assistant Professor Imoukhuede on the Urbana-Champaign campus. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Conducting independent research on
- Isolating stromal cells from the tumor microenvironment.
- Developing tumor silencing approaches.
- Testing novel fluorescent markers in human breast cancer.
- Responsible for preparing publications from the conducted research, to be published in peer-reviewed journals.
- Assisting Assistant Professor Imoukhuede in managing research activities in the laboratory and conduct experiments, while assisting students with their research.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biology, or a related area. 2-3 years' of related experience in the following areas: Molecular Biology, Tissue Culture, and Flow Cytometry. Visiting Research Scientist must also have strong background knowledge in Molecular Biology, Tissue Culture, and Biophotonics/optics.
Preferred Qualifications : Master's Degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Biology, or a related area.The Visiting Research Scientist position is a full time, benefits-eligible Visiting Academic Professional position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The position may become regular at a later date. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Applicants may be interviewed before the closing date; however, no hiring decision will be made until after that date. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
