The Associate Director is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the creation, expansion, and operations of any/all types of programs that focus on the training and workforce development needs of the private, public and non-profit sectors of the upper peninsula and surrounding region. The Associate Director will assist in the development of new educational initiatives, revenue growth, and resources and expertise with University departments, community groups, agencies, other educational facilities. He/she will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of contracted or specialized programs for regional businesses.
Minimum qualifications: Master's Degree in Education, Public Administration, Public Policy, Management, Business Administration or equivalent. Four (4) years of managerial experience with programs involving continuing education, and/or workforce development. Successful grant writing experience.
Knowledge/skills/abilities required: The ability to maintain active relationships and partnerships with a variety of constituencies. Oral and Written Communication Skills - the ability to articulate and understand the English language. Aptitude for entrepreneurial thinking and applications to programming opportunities. Knowledge of distance learning technologies, corporate training needs analysis. Knowledge of corporate and government funding sourcing, and agency budgeting. Customer Service Orientation- actively looking for ways to help others. Effective Interpersonal Skills - partnering effectively with those over whom no formal authority exists. Planning & Organizing Skills - Adjusting actions in relation to the needs of the goal and others' actions. Managing Financial, Material, and Personnel Resources - obtaining, directing, and accounting for relevant resources. Knowledge of industrial manufacturing. Knowledge of marketing strategies.
This position is traditionally Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required. The targeted salary range is $48,800-$56,000.
