About Three Rivers Community College
Three Rivers Community College is a public, two-year comprehensive institution established in 1967 to provide educational opportunities to residents of the four-county taxing district and surrounding service area in Southeast Missouri. The 80-acre campus is located on a beautiful rolling and wooded tract in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and features the Tinnin Fine Arts Center, the E.K. Porter Distance Learning Center, and Rivers Ridge Apartments. More than 3,600 students are enrolled in college transfer and career and technical programs at on-campus and offcampus sites. The college employs 66 fulltime faculty, 100 adjunct faculty, and 106 professional and support staff.The Community
Poplar Bluff serves an eight-county trade area population of more than 175,000 with industry, retail sales, and medical facilities. It is centrally located approximately three hours from St. Louis, Memphis, and Little Rock, Ark., in Southeast Missouri. Poplar Bluff is known for a variety of outdoor and recreational activities, as well as its extensive industrial base.The Position
The Vice President for Student Success reports directly to the President and serves on the President's Cabinet. The Vice President also must work closely with a team of peers to ensure student success.Responsibilities
The Vice President for Student Success has the following duties, responsibilities, and authorities:- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for all departments of the student success
division with direct supervision for:
- - Student records,
- - Financial aid,
- - Admissions and recruitment,
- - TRIO programs,
- - Housing,
- - Athletics,
- - Safety and Security
- Commit to excellence and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Oversee scheduling and use of the Bess Activity Center, Bess Student Center, Conference Room, baseball and softball fields, and student parking lots.
- Provide leadership for the development and enforcement of discipline and codes of conduct for the student body.
- Demonstrate the ability to comprehend and utilize current computer technology in the student services area.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate annual goals and objectives for student services that increase student retention, diversity, and equity; contribute to collegewide learning outcomes; and encourage and support the success of all students.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following:- An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution is preferred; a master's degree in an educationally related field with demonstrated successful experiences in an administrative role in an educationally related setting is required; timely completion of a doctoral degree is required.
- Five years of educational leadership and supervisory/management experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience in working with job placement, TRIO programs, housing, athletics, recruitment, financial aid, student advisement and development, student retention, enrollment management, and safety and security is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of and commitment to the comprehensive philosophy and mission of a rural community college.
- Exemplary written, oral, and personal communication skills.
- Participatory leadership style with demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to manage fiscal and personnel resources, plan and evaluate programs, and think strategically and proactively.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees.
- Demonstrated support of and participation in student activities including, but not limited to, the fine and performing arts, athletics, and student organizations.
- Knowledge of state and fedral laws relating to the development of student personnel programs at the community college level.
- Knowledge of the grant development and implementation process.
- Ability to collaborate with all functional areas of the college.

- $500 travel reimbursement provided. If candidate is offered the position but does not accept, no reimbursement will be provided.
Start Date: January 4, 2010
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience and excellent benefits. Salary range is $80,000-$90,000.
