The Graduate School of Nursing, Department of Health Systems, Risk and Contingency Management invites applications for a full time (non tenure-track) Associate Professor position.

The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs accredited Graduate School of Nursing offers program options in nurse anesthesia, nurse practitioner (family health), and clinical nurse specialist (perioperative) leading to the MSN. The PhD program has a research-intensive focus within the areas of population health and outcomes, operational readiness, and clinical decision making. The Graduate School of Nursing is committed to promoting clinical excellence, and furthering research and scholarship in healthcare. Located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the school enjoys interdisciplinary relationships with medicine, public health and other health related professions.

Duties: The incumbent serves as a primary faculty member, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program (PMH-NP), GSN and is responsible for teaching, research, and administrative assignments within the PMH-NP program and in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program. In coordination with other faculty members of the PMH-NP Program, the incumbent will assist in the planning and development of curriculum; Participate in the development and organization of specific courses of study in areas of expertise; Participate in teaching graduate nursing students, preparing them for advanced clinical and functional roles that demand increased accountability, expertise and leadership; Advise students in scholarly project development, evaluating student progress in coursework and scholarly work and for writing fundable research grants. Additionally, he/she will insure compliance with the educational standards and guidelines published by accrediting bodies for graduate nursing education and conduct independent and collaborative scholarly productivity in areas of evidenced based practice, clinical process improvement, and/or research in areas consistent with the interests of the Graduate School of Nursing.

Qualification Requirements: The incumbent must be a doctorally prepared professional nurse who holds current certification as an advanced practice nurse. Preference will be give to advanced practice nurses with a psychiatric mental health nursing background. If holding a research doctorate, he/she must show the potential to develop a program of research in an area consistent with the needs of the GSN. If DNP prepared, he/she must be a clinical expert, with the academic preparation and interest to improve clinical processes through evidenced based practice. Incumbent must demonstrate effective leadership and scholarly achievement including publications; set standards of excellence for professional service; have strong interpersonal skills; and, have a commitment to adult education and continued professional development of self and others. Those candidates with a background in the military and/or federal health care system are preferred. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic policies.
