Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum & Instruction (Tenure-Track)

The TWU Department of Teacher Education prepares candidates for certification as defined by the State Board of Educator Certification. Initial educator certification is offered at both the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate levels. Undergraduate students pursue a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies according to the grade level and content area of their interest for general, bilingual, and special education populations. The Master of Arts in Teaching degree combines a graduate degree with initial teacher certification and offers a portion of the required coursework online. A Master's of Education provides certified teachers with the opportunity to continue their studies in one of several specialization areas in EC-12 as well community college populations.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include: (1) teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in the teacher preparation program, (2) conducting and supervising research, (3) serving on program, department, college, and university committees, (4) and advising students within the program. Program components include theoretical orientation, field-related practice, and integration of technology into the classroom.

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the field of Curriculum & Instruction or related field (e.g., Teaching, Learning, Curriculum); teacher certification and teaching experience in an EC-12 general education setting; potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate instruction; strong potential for research and scholarship.

Required Qualifications for Associate Professor: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the field of Curriculum & Instruction or related field (e.g., Teaching, Learning, Curriculum); teacher certification and teaching experience in an EC-12 general education setting; demonstrated successful experience in undergraduate and graduate instruction; an established scholarly agenda.

Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years teaching experience in an EC-12 general education setting; interest and experience with online/distance learning systems; evidence of student-oriented instruction and learning within a collaborative environment; interest or experience with field-based learning activities. A documented history of course delivery focused on one, or more, of the following areas; educational foundations, instructional design and delivery, models of instruction, and/or classroom environment and management.
