The Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics (PMB), Division of Health Services Administration, at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, Maryland seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Associate Professor (tenure eligible track). The Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics, one of the nation's largest, is comprised of six divisions, two medical residency programs, more than 65 full-time faculty members, and over 200 additional adjunct faculty members engaged in a wide variety of research projects relevant to public health. PMB has recently established a Master's degree program in Healthcare Administration and Policy.
Duties: The incumbent will serve as Associate Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics (PMB), Division of Health Services Administration and will be responsible for teaching, research, patient care, organizational leadership, and major administrative assignments. The incumbent will work in conjunction with other Department faculty members and participate in the planning and development of curriculum to integrate student knowledge of the principles of domestic and global health services administration, policy, and research. The incumbent will participate in the development and teaching of specific courses of study which provide practical experience in learning fundamentals of health policy, health administration, preventive medicine, and public health.
Qualifications Requirements: The incumbent must possess a minimum of an M.D. or Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree with specialization in health policy, health services research, health administration, economics (health focus) , public policy (health focus), or public administration (health focus). Additionally, experience in analysis and an evaluation related field, with substantial knowledge and experience in health services administration and policy, education, and research are required. Individuals should have extensive experience in graduate and/or medical school teaching, research, and development, expertise and experience as reflected by a significant number of scientific publications in critically reviewed scientific journals as appropriate to his/her research, and possess active membership in scholarly societies. If an MD, the clinical role of this position must be supported by a license to practice medicine and certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties.. Experience with curriculum development, review, and evaluation is desirable. Exceptionally strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, are essential. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level in accordance with USUHS academic policies.
