Assistant/Associate Faculty Position

Position: Tenure-track position at the rank of either Assistant or Associate Professor in the Early Childhood Development & Education (ECDE) component, Department of Family Sciences, College of Professional Education, Texas Woman's University, Denton, Texas.

Responsibilities: Teach face-to-face and online courses in the areas of child development and early childhood education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise students; direct theses and dissertations; conduct research; and contribute to other program activities.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field; college teaching experience, including online teaching; and a beginning or established research agenda.

General Information: The Department of Family Sciences is one of four departments in the College of Professional Education. Currently, there are 22 FTE faculty members who teach in four program areas: Early Childhood Development & Education (ECDE), Counseling and Development, Family Studies, and Marriage & Family Therapy. The department offers three undergraduate, five Master's, and three doctoral degrees. The ECDE program awards a Bachelor of Science in Child Development with optional tracks in Child Life, Pre-Occupational Therapy, and Pre-Physical Therapy; a Master of Science in Child Development, a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education, and a Ph.D. in Early Child Development and Education.

The College of Professional Education is the home for three departments and one school: Family Sciences, Reading, Teacher Education, and the School of Library and Information Studies. Texas Woman's University (TWU) is a public university with the Carnegie Classification of a Doctoral/Research university. As a teaching and research institution, TWU emphasizes the liberal arts and specialized or professional studies. TWU has three campuses. The main campus is located Denton, Texas (approximately 35 miles north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex area). The other campuses are the TWU Health Science Centers in Dallas and Houston, which offer upper-level and graduate studies in nursing and allied health professions. This position is located on the Denton Campus.

Rank and Salary: Nine-month tenure track; salary commensurate with experience.
