The Department of Teacher Education is seeking highly qualified candidates for a tenure-track position in the Special Education program. Appointment in rank will be based on qualifications, experience, and record of scholarship.

Responsibilities: (a) teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs including strands in learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, and assessment; (b) advise undergraduate and graduate students; (c) participate in curriculum development; and (d) participate in scholarly activity and service.

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor: (a) Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or related area; (b) evidence of public school teaching experience with students with disabilities; (c) strong professional knowledge in one or more of the disability categories of special education, including assessment; (d) potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate instruction (e) strong potential for research and scholarship appropriate for the rank; and (f) potential for mentoring doctoral students.

Required Qualifications for Associate Professor: (a) Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education or related area; (b) evidence of public school teaching experience with students with disabilities; (c) strong professional knowledge in one or more of the disability categories of special education, including assessment; (d) evidence of excellence in undergraduate and graduate instruction; (e) established record of research and scholarship in the field of Special Education appropriate to the rank; and (f) potential for mentoring doctoral students.

Preferred Qualifications: (a) at least 3 years teaching experience with students with disabilities in a public school; (b) experience or interest in grant development; and (c) experience with online and/or hybrid course development.
