COUNSELING AND DEVELOPMENT
FACULTY POSITION - 14PE-FS02

POSITION: Assistant Professor of Counselor Education (with School Counseling specialization) - Tenure Track, Department of Family Sciences, College of Professional Education, Texas Woman's University, Denton, Texas

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching a variety of counseling courses, supervising clinical experiences, and advising students in a Master's level CACREP accredited mental health counseling and school counseling program. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct research and publish in journals related to the discipline; collaborate with colleagues; and perform community service to the university, profession, and the community.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ASSISTANT PROFESSOR: (a) Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP (The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited university and eligible for licensure in the State of Texas (including LPC, NCC and school counseling certification); (b) Professional School Counseling experience; (c) Potential for excellence in graduate instruction, evidence of successful teaching experience, and demonstrated clinical competence; (d) Strong potential for research and scholarship; (e) Documented professional counselor identity; (f) Documented professional experience with and/or competency when working with culturally diverse populations; and (g) Willingness to engage in community/school-university partnerships.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR: (a) Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education from a CACREP (The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited and eligible for licensure in the State of Texas (including LPC, NCC and school counseling certification); (b) Professional School Counseling experience; (c) Evidence of successful teaching experience in graduate instruction and demonstrated clinical competence; (d) An established scholarly agenda appropriate to the rank; (e) Documented professional counselor identity; (f) Documented professional experience with and/or competency when working with culturally diverse populations; and (g) Willingness to engage in community/school-university partnerships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (a) Bilingual in Spanish and English; (b) Evidence of student-oriented instruction and leading within a collaborative environment; (c) Demonstrated outreach and service activities; and (d) Interest in or experience with collaborative grant development.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department of Family Sciences is one of four departments in the College of Education. Currently, there are 25 FTE faculty who teach in four program areas: Early Childhood Development Education, Counseling and Development, Family Studies, and Family Therapy. One auxiliary service/training component of the Department is the Counseling and Family Development Clinic, which serves individuals, groups and families from the community. The Counseling and Development program is a master's level program with on average 140 enrolled students.

The College of Professional Education is the home for three departments and one school: Family Sciences, Reading, Teacher Education, and the School of Library and Information Studies. Texas Woman's University (TWU) is a Doctoral/Research Intensive public university. TWU has three campuses. The main campus is located on 270 acres in Denton. Denton has a population of 100,100 and is 35 miles north of the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro-plex

RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor, 9-month tenure track, assigned to the Denton campus. Salary is competitive with experiences.
