ART STUDIO (Digital/New Genres): Tenure track position in Studio Art with expertise in Digital/New Genres, at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2010. M.F.A. and significant college-level teaching experience beyond the T.A. level required, plus active exhibition/presentation record and knowledge of contemporary theory and practice. Area of teaching specialization and intellectual/creative life must lie within the digital environment.

The successful candidate will offer courses in Introduction to Digital/New Genres; Foundation Design/Theory and Practice; Intermediate, Advanced Digital Arts/New Genres; and other fine arts courses or special topics within the person's skill sets and interests. Whitman College wishes to reinforce its commitment to enhance diversity, broadly defined, recognizing that to provide a diverse learning environment is to prepare students for personal and professional success in an increasingly multicultural and global society. In their application, candidates should address their interest in working with undergraduates as teachers and scholars in a liberal arts environment that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction; how their cultural, experiential, and/or academic background contributes to diversity; and their interest in participating in the College's general education offerings.

Materials should include a letter of application; curriculum vitae, plus 20 images of personal work and 20 images of student work; teaching philosophy statement; three letters of reference; undergraduate and graduate transcripts; teaching evaluations or other evidence of demonstrated or potential excellence in undergraduate instruction. Submission of professional work and student work will also be accepted on CD/DVD in Powerpoint presentation format only. Electronic applications cannot be accepted.
