The Department of Art at Rhodes College seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor
position beginning in August, 2010. We seek a promising scholar-teacher in the area of ancient and
classical art (encompassing the Greco-Roman tradition and the Art of Ancient Egypt and the Ancient
Near East). Secondary teaching interests in areas not currently covered within the department are
highly desirable (especially the history of architecture). See department homepage at

applications from individuals whose interests go beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries and
intersect with other college programs and departments, such as History, Greek and Roman Studies,
Archaeology, and related disciplines.
Successful candidate must demonstrate potential for scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching at a liberal arts college. Course load is five classes per year, which will include an appropriate range of levels and topics. Candidates must be willing to embrace digital media as the primary image resource.
Ph.D. in Art or Architectural History must be completed by August, 2010. Application materials must include: cover letter, CV, 3 letters of reference, writing/publication sample, list of courses qualified to teach, and SASE for any return materials.
