PROFILE of the LIBRARIES DIVISION
This position is located within the Libraries' Division of Research and Education. In support of the University Libraries' mission and shared values, the Research and Education Division fosters collaborations that contribute to our users' academic success, research, and lifelong learning. The Division positively impacts student learning and supports the research and scholarly agenda of the University. This mission is realized through: instruction of learners using a variety of methods and tools, partnerships with faculty to create an integrated, assessable, information literacy-focused curriculum, provision of targeted information resources, expert, point-of need research assistance, and a commitment to fostering competencies for lifelong inquiry.
ROLE of the POSITION
This new position of Outreach Librarian has been created to bring the Libraries' message to current users and to bring new users to the Libraries through existing mechanisms and experimentation with new outreach initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Research and Education, responsibilities include: working with others to develop new outreach programs for prospective, undergraduate, and graduate students in order to expose them to the Libraries collections and services; developing and maintaining relationships with campus partners around co-curricular, residential life, and service learning programs, which may include the Academic Success Center, Office of International Students and Scholars, student government organizations, and the Division of Student Affairs (Campus Life, Enrollment and Student Services, and the Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach); re-invigorating and coordinating the Libraries' role in new student and faculty orientations; supporting targeted communication efforts to UNLV faculty, staff, and students as a member of the Campus Communication and Marketing Committee; producing a quarterly e-newsletter for the campus community (includes working with others to develop story ideas, establishing timelines, writing articles, setting up an editing cycle, and publishing the newsletter); and assessing outreach efforts. In order to increase exposure to user needs, this position may provide reference or research consultation services. As a tenure-track library faculty member, the incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively with others; engage in scholarly activities; and provide service to the university, the community, and the profession in accordance with Libraries and University standards for promotion and tenure.

Required: A master's degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association; demonstrated organization skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; evidence of energy, creativity, initiative and commitment to professional growth; and the ability to work independently and collegially.
Preferred: Demonstrated project management experience and previous employment or experience involving journalistic or creative writing.
This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position at Rank II (equivalent to an Assistant Professor). Salaries are competitive with those at similarly situated institutions and dependent upon labor market. Position is contingent upon funding.
