Position Description
The Department of Family and Geriatric Medicine (DFGM) at the University of Louisville is recruiting for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Geriatrics. All applicants should be board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and have a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatrics. The position may be tenure or term track. This position requires demonstrated clinical, teaching, and administrative skills. Responsibilities include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and providing patient care in outpatient clinics, hospitals, and nursing homes. Salary is commensurate with training and experience and an excellent fringe benefits package is available.

The University of Louisville DFGM is a unique department that blends both family medicine and geriatric medicine. The DFGM is the only academic program in the state to focus on geriatrics and includes a geriatric medicine fellowship program. The geriatrics programs include palliative medicine, hospitalists, home call program, geriatric evaluation and treatment team, nursing home care, and an endowment-supported polypharmacy program. The Chair of the Department, Dr. James G. O'Brien, is also the Margaret Dorward Smock Endowed Chair in Geriatric Medicine and internationally recognized for his expertise in elder abuse and neglect. The Department has close ties to the Louisville Veterans Administration Medical Center and other colleges on campus. We are seeking individuals interested in the challenges and opportunities associated with joining a diverse and expanding department.
