The School of Nursing at UNLV offers CCNE-accredited programs leading to a BSN, MS (nurse practitioner and nurse educator tracks), DNP, and PhD (educator and health sustainability concentrations). There are two departments within the School: Physiological Nursing (for 18 faculty with medical-surgical expertise) and Psychosocial Nursing (for 14 faculty with maternal, pediatric, psychiatric and community health expertise). ROLE of the POSITION
The School invites applicants for a 12-month position to serve as Chair of the Psychosocial Nursing Department, an important member of the Dean's leadership team. The multidisciplinary faculty members are seeking an inspirational leader to empower them to meet the School's teaching, scholarship, and service missions. In addition to the usual teaching and research responsibilities, the administrative responsibilities of this appointment are to: (1) Guide faculty members in role and career development, goal attainment, and in seeking promotion or tenure; (2) Make workload and teaching assignments; (3) Orient new faculty members and part time instructors; (4) Evaluate faculty performance; (5) Meet faculty resource needs through budget management and assignment of space; (6) Make hiring and adjunct appointment recommendations to the Dean; (7) Represent the School in appropriate University, state, regional, and national venues.
Associate or Full Professor: Senior level nursing faculty member, currently tenured at the Associate or Full Professor rank, holding a record of externally-funded research. The individual must also hold or be qualified to hold a Nevada RN license. Preference will be given to those with administrative experience.
Salary highly competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Start-up research funding is negotiable. Position is contingent upon funding. Position available as early as January 2014.
