Position Description

The Department of Biology at the University of Louisville, http://louisville.edu/biology, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2014. Successful candidates should have a research program that emphasizes biochemical, molecular and cellular mechanisms of ecology and/or behavior. Individuals with research programs that focus on insect, fungal, or plant systems are strongly encouraged to apply. This position is open to individuals using any Eukaryotic systems. Research expertise and interests may include, but are not limited to: mechanisms of host defense, hormonal regulation/mating, behavior and development. We are particularly interested in individuals using modern molecular/biochemical approaches (e.g. genomics and next-gen sequencing) that will complement existing expertise in urban ecology, plant/fungal interactions and insect ecology. Post-doctoral experience is required. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the department's teaching mission within both the undergraduate and graduate programs and to maintain an excellent record of research productivity and external funding. Primary teaching duties will include contributions to the core undergraduate curriculum and teaching graduate level material in the applicant's area of specialization.
