ROLE of the POSITION
This development position reports to the Associate Vice President for Development at the UNLV Foundation. The Senior Director of Development works with external corporations, alumni and friends outside of Southern Nevada to identify, cultivate, and solicit funding for both annual and major support. In anticipation of our next Capital Campaign, the Senior Director will create and implement systems for strategic planning and tracking for an aggressive and successful regional fundraising program. We are seeking knowledgeable professionals skilled in fundraising and securing major gifts, and who are measurably successful in building productive relationships with donors. The ability to travel 50% of the time is required. The Senior Director will also oversee and lead development officers in designated colleges and schools.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a preference of five years of proven major gift development experience in higher education. Previous management experience is preferred. Candidate should possess superior interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; effectiveness in working strategically with teams of faculty, staff and volunteers in raising major gifts; experience in writing, organizing and executing fundraising annual and long-range strategic plans for a university or non-profit; documented results soliciting and closing major gifts; expertise in writing successful, complex proposals that clearly articulate the need for funding and the significance of the program.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
