Description:
The Associate Director of Student Accounts supervises the University's Cashier Office, Credit
and Collections Office, and Student Loan Office.
Responsibilities include the direction and
management of these offices with:
- an emphasis on internal control
- development and
implementation of dunning procedures for delinquent accounts
- direct the Perkins Loan and
General University Loan administration and billing
The overall goal for this position is to
ensure the accuracy of postings, strength of internal controls, and the accountability within the
three offices listed above. The Associate Director of Student Accounts must be able to make and
implement changes to accomplish this goal and contribute to the overall performance including
service quality and reduction of bad debt write-offs. This job requires self-direction and minimal
supervision.
Educational Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
Administration is required.
Minimum Requirements:
Three to five years of
position-related experience (cash handling/reconciling, loan administration, and collection related
laws) is required. The candidate must have excellent people and communication skills including
strong leadership, analytical and decision making ability. A general knowledge of Information
Systems and computer application software (preferably Colleague/Datatel) is required.
The
Associate Director position requires knowledge in all Student Account departmental areas including,
but not limited to, Student Services, Sponsored/Contract Accounts, and refunds. Knowledge of the
University Registrar, Financial Aid and Controller functions are very beneficial. Awareness of fair
debt collection practices, and the FERPA and Gramm-Leach-Bliley Acts is necessary.
Preferred
Requirements:
Knowledge of Federal Financial Aid regulations is highly desirable.
