Assistant/Associate Professor in Educational Leadership

The Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark offers a full-time assistant/associate tenure-track position in the Educational Leadership Department with appointment commencing fall semester 2010. The Educational Leadership Department consists of the Educational Administration Program, School Counseling Program, and the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program. This position involves substantial teaching and student advising responsibilities in the Doctoral Program, an expectation for scholarly productivity, institutional service, and the potential of teaching in other Graduate School programs.

Responsibilities:
* Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to teach applied research methods, program evaluation, policy, and/or institutional change.
* Demonstrate strong foundation in quantitative and mixed methods research.
* Participate as an active member of an Educational Leadership Department faculty with a long standing commitment to the preparation of exceptional practitioners prepared to engage entire school communities in promoting environments for teaching and learning in which all students realize their potential.
* Be an innovator willing to work proactively and collaboratively with school and district partners in the development of programs that can serve as national models of excellence.
* Utilize excellent interpersonal skills and work collaboratively with others in a rigorous program of doctoral study for practitioner/scholars.
* Engage in student advisement and extensive supervision of doctoral candidates as they conduct research, develop their dissertations, and apply research to practice.
* Demonstrate an area of inquiry that can lead to a record of research and publication.

Required Qualifications:
* Earned doctorate in educational leadership, educational administration, educational policy, or related field.
* Record of, or potential for, productive scholarly activity as a college faculty member pursuing an active research agenda.
* Ability and background to teach a variety of courses in education leadership, research, policy, and evaluation.
* Research skills with an emphasis on highly developed quantitative and mixed methods research design and analysis techniques.
* Proficiency with Excel, SPSS and software for qualitative data analysis.
* Strong written and analytical skills.
* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and collaboratively with university faculty, graduate students, staff, and with faculty, administrators, students and families from local education agencies and community organizations.
* Ability to serve on dissertation committees and as dissertation chair for doctoral students in educational leadership (experience preferred).
* High level of cultural competence that includes understanding shifting demographics, race, class and gender issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience working with students, faculty, and staff in PK-12 setting.
* Expertise in school-community collaborations.
* Knowledge and experience related to working with diverse communities.
