East Central University (ECU) is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada,
Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-five undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters,
business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing and the social sciences; and nine master's
degrees in education, human resources, and psychology. ECU's 4,600 students come from 24 countries
and 25 states. About 70% of the 165 faculty hold doctorates.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science seeks qualified applicants for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning August 2010. Qualified candidates will hold an earned PhD in mathematics or statistics. Responsibilities include: teaching 12 hours per semester (summer teaching is not guaranteed; teaching assignments may include developmental courses); advising mathematics majors; serving on departmental and university committees; maintaining office hours for students outside the traditional classroom setting; and engaging in scholarly activity. Candidates with interest /experience in directing undergraduate research, writing external funding proposals, or participating in grant programs for K-12 teachers are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and commit to the principles of a student-centered university by adhering to rigorous teaching schedules and mentoring mathematics majors.
