The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Graduate School of Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner Department (FNP) invites applications for a full time (non-tenure track) Associate Professor position.
The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs accredited Graduate School of Nursing offers program options in nurse anesthesia, nurse practitioner (family health) , and clinical nurse specialist (perioperative) leading to the MSN. The PhD program has a research-intensive focus within the areas of population health and outcomes, operational readiness, and clinical decision making. The Graduate School of Nursing is committed to promoting clinical excellence, and furthering research and scholarship in healthcare. Located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), the school enjoys interdisciplinary relationships with medicine, public health and other health related professions.
Duties: The incumbent serves as an Associate Professor, in the Family Nurse Practitioner Department, Graduate School of Nursing and is responsible for teaching, scholarly work/research, and administrative assignments. In coordination with other faculty members of the Department, assists in the planning and development of FNP curriculum. Participates in the development and organization of specific courses of study in the area of expertise. Participates in teaching graduate nursing students and prepares them for advanced nurse practitioner roles that demand the application and utilization of evidenced-based practice.
He/she will be responsible for teaching in areas designated by the Dean. Preparing materials for presentation, providing daily supervision, and reviewing student performance. Serves as major advisor on Capstone and student scholarly committees. Provides significant input into multiple aspects of graduate nursing educational programs, including leadership in instructional and curricular activities. Presents lectures outside own area of special interest.
The successful candidate will oversee capstone and developmental projects, evaluate data, draw conclusions, and publish results. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and critiquing scholarly work; serving as an advisor to graduate students in field of expertise; assisting in planning programs, setting objectives and evaluating progress; conducting independent and collaborative clinical research in areas consistent with the mission of the Graduate School of Nursing. The incumbent will be expected to actively seek and pursue outside funding to support research interests.
Qualification Requirements: The incumbent must bring to this position a doctorate degree in nursing or a relevant field and must hold a current license and certification, as appropriate. Must demonstrate an established program of scholarship, effective leadership, and professional achievement including publications. The incumbent will set a standard of excellence for professional service and must have strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to graduate education and continued professional development of self and others. The successful candidate must be academically qualified for a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level in accordance with USUHS/GSN academic policies.

The position sensitivity level is designated as non-critical sensitive. It does not require a secret clearance. Nominees for this position shall be required to successfully complete an Access National Agency Check (ANACI). Appointment to this position is subject the incumbent's ability to obtain and maintain a non-critical-sensitive security level.
