Minimum Qualifications:
A Master's degree or higher in an appropriate area of specialization and 7-10 years of experience in the field or related area, including international experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal and both written and oral communication skills.
Knowledge and experience in research and policy engagement in areas related to gender equality and women's empowerment.
Experience serving as a principal investigator or co-PI in relevant studies.
Teaching experience is desirable.
Strong competence in cross cultural collaborations.
Strong project management skills and ability to manage complex workload.
Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships with staff and diverse constituencies and work independently as well as collaboratively.
Strong research skills with experience in both qualitative and quantitative research.
Second language highly desirable .
Broad experience managing and implementing projects, both domestically and internationally.
The ability to travel periodically, both nationally and internationally.
Proven success in obtaining grant money.
An understanding of strategic planning issues and methodologies.

JOB DUTIES
  • In collaboration with the Director of the Global Women's Institute works to build a robust portfolio of interdisciplinary research and to build a strong network of partners, both within GW and externally. This includes working across all the schools and programs at GW to develop research collaborative proposals, to identify potential donors and to write grant proposals to obtain funding.
  • Responsible for project management, as well as technical assistance to the projects and may be principal investigator on some projects. Engages in dissemination activities to publicize the goals of the GWI, and results from research projects.
  • Works with a wide range of local and international partners, to develop projects for capacity development, public awareness and civic engagement in areas related to gender equality and women's empowerment. This may involve developing new courses and opportunities for service learning for GW students.
  • Serves as a liaison with donors and other partners both within GW and externally, including student organizations, community groups, faculty and international research and advocacy groups.
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor form assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
