Job Description Summary:
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services (GWU SPHHS) is launching several NIH-funded studies on HIV prevention among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Washington, DC.
The Department is seeking a full-time Senior Research
Assistant (SRA) to support implementation of these studies. Under the supervision of the Project Directors and
Principal Investigator, the SRA will participate in all research activities in clinic, field, and mobile van
settings, including but not limited to recruitment, retention, data collection and management, data quality assurance and quality
improvement, service referrals and linkage, ethical conduct of study protocols, coordination with multidisciplinary team including
physicians and medical staff, collaboration with internal and external agencies, and other duties as requested. The majority of work will
take place off-campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
1-3 years of experience in the field or
in a related area.
At least 1 year previous experience in working with MSM or transgender individuals,
specifically Black MSM.
Desired Qualifications:
Previous experience leading focus
groups, interviews (quantitative and qualitative, face to face and computer assisted.
Previous experience with study logistics such as
tracking, documentation, conference calls, and other elements of study implementation.
Knowledge of HIV
public health prevention or behavioral research.
Experience with data collection in NIH or other federally
funded research settings Excellent verbal and written skills; comfortable in academic, professional, and healthcare settings.
Excellent
interpersonal skills with both diverse participant and professional communities.
Ability to work autonomously when needed but also
functions well in a team; can work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Ability to act as liaison to community-level
partners who will work in collaboration with the study.
Experience and certification in HIV rapid screening,
pre- and post-test counseling.
Familiarity with local health care agencies, case management procedures, peer health navigation, linkage
to health insurance and access.
Ability to complete current CITITRAINING HIPPA and
Good Clinical Practice certifications.
Ability to travel locally in own transportation preferred.
Travel to trainings and meetings
may be required.
