Western Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish and Coordinator of the BSEd, beginning August, 2014.

Western Carolina University is a 9,000-student campus in the University of North Carolina system. Academically, WCU offers 120 areas of study for undergraduates and more than 50 graduate-level programs, including a doctorate in education and physical therapy. The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredits WCU to award baccalaureate, masters, education specialist, and doctoral degrees. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Applicants should have a PhD in Spanish Linguistics (in hand by time of appointment). The successful candidate should have a proven record of college teaching, advising and mentoring, possess native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish, and be eligible for or be willing to obtain a license to teach Spanish in North Carolina public schools.
Degree must be from an appropriately accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who are qualified to teach French and who have experience leading study abroad courses.
