Department: The Department of Resident Life serves a highly diverse population of approximately 11,000 undergraduate students living in
traditional residence halls, apartments, and suites including some public/private partnership properties. About 46% of all resident students
are enrolled in ten living-learning programs covering a wide array of academic areas. Resident Life employs a diverse workforce of over 90
full-time and graduate staff members and about 400 undergraduate student staff members. The Department actively seeks candidates who can
represent and serve the diversity of persons who live and work in the University of Maryland's residence halls. The University of Maryland
campus is located in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area just eight miles from downtown D.C. and 30 miles from Baltimore, MD. Position: The Coordinator for South Campus Administrative Operations provides leadership and direction to customer service and administrative activities in three (3) residential communities housing approximately 5,500 students. This position assumes responsibility for communication, training, implementation, and evaluation of significant unit and department events and activities such as residence hall opening, closing, check-in/check-out, room assignments, residence hall transitions, inspections, and billing. The Coordinator for South Campus Administrative Operations directly supervises one full-time Assistant Coordinator and indirectly supervises two (2) graduate assistants in the management of three (3) 24-hour service desks, and indirectly supervises three undergraduate Customer Service Supervisors and approximately 50 undergraduate service desk staff. This position serves as the South Campus unit's administrative liaison with the Resident Life Assignments unit and Department of Residential Facilities, as well as University faculty and academic administrators affiliated with University Honors, Global Communities, Jimenez-Porter Writers' House, CIVICUS, and Language House living-learning programs. The Coordinator for South Campus Administrative Operations participates as a member of the management team for a campus area of 5,000 beds, working under the supervision of the Assistant Director, in cooperation with the Associate Director, and three (3) Community Directors.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and two years of full-time work experience managing residence hall operations or programs are required; Master's degree is preferred. Excellent customer service experience and experience in residence hall administrative procedures strongly preferred. Ability to use database management programs, Microsoft Office, and electronic mail strongly desired. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation: Salary is low to mid-40's depending on relevant skills and experience. Excellent benefits and leave package including tuition remission. This is a 12-month, live-out position.
