Brief Description of Duties: HEAD WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH

JOB SUMMARY
Winston-Salem State University, an NCAA Division Institution, encourages applicants to apply for the Head Women's Volleyball Coaching position. This position is responsible for the coaching and supervision, recruiting, academic progress, and travel of the Winston-Salem State University Volleyball team, as well as community service efforts. This position works under the direction of the Athletic Director in the Department of Athletics.

The women's volleyball coach is essential in carrying out all aspects of the women's volleyball program necessary to accomplish objectives of the sport within the guidelines of the Department of Athletics, university, conference, and NCAA rules.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for recruiting highly skilled student-athletes for the volleyball team. Responsible for adhering to the policies and regulations of the university, Department of Athletics, conference and NCAA; responsible for the orientation of student-athletes and boosters to these guidelines. Oversee the conduct and discipline of student-athletes. Work with admissions and academic coordinator in the enrollment of student-athletes.

In consultation with the Athletic Director or designee select, supervise and evaluate assistant coaches, manage sport budget, market and promote sport program, participate in athletic department major fundraising efforts. Assist with the development of a sport schedule.

Provides support in the Athletic Academic Lab in the monitoring and tracking of student-athlete success.

• Counsel the student-athlete in sport participation, personal development and athletics.
• Managing the day-to-day operations of the program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Competencies: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Strong interpersonal skills are necessary. Skills and attitude modeling quality customer service is essential. Candidate must possess a knowledge and skill in use of integrated software systems and Microsoft Applications.

APPLICANT MUST DEMONSTRATE:

• Ability to evaluate and recruit highly skilled student-athletes.
• Ability to effectively analyze and teach the fundamental skills and strategies of the sport.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications): REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred from an accredited college or university. At least three years of successful head volleyball coaching experience at the high school level or higher with preference given to collegiate coaching experience.
