The University of Notre Dame ( www.nd.edu) is accepting applications for two HR Consultants within the Office of Human Resources ( http://hr.nd.edu/) to provide guidance and support to University leadership and employees of
designated divisions or colleges on strategic initiatives impacting their organization and people, and identify HR issues that will help
achieve business goals and objectives (strategic planning). They inform and work with colleagues in HR's Centers of Expertise (COE) about
these issues so that appropriate solutions can be designed.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Employee Relations: Advise, counsel, interpret and administer policies
with managers and employees on all types of ER issues with an understanding and use of coaching/counseling techniques,
facilitation/mediation, corrective action, performance improvement planning, and employment laws such as employment discrimination, sexual
harassment, FMLA, FLSA, ADA, etc. Makes decisions about discipline including performance improvement plans, corrective action, suspensions
and terminations (coordinate with Office of General Counsel).
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in HR Management, Educational Administration, Communications, Psychology, Business. Must have at least 3 - 4 years of experience.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to establish credibility with individuals at all levels of organization; excellent oral/written communication skills; knowledge of current employment laws; complex problem-solving; technical and theoretical knowledge of multiple HR disciplines (organizational design, employee relations, benefits, compensation, employment, professional development); strong customer service orientation; multi-task; excellent skills in use of technology tools to diagnose, examine, analyze and communicate on issues in client groups.
